Kamila Andini lahir di Jakarta, 6 Mei 1986 dan menyelesaikan studi Sociology and Media Arts di Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Perhatiannya terhadap kebudayaan sosial, kesetaraan gender, dan isu lingkungan membawanya untuk menghasilkan film-film dengan perspektif bercerita yang khas.

Pada usia ke-24, filmnya ‘The Mirror Never Lies’, yang mengabadikan kisah suku Bajau, menerima beberapa penghargaan termasuk Earth Grand Prix for best environmental film di Tokyo International Film Festival dan FIPRESCI award di Hong Kong International Film Festival. Dua film pendeknya ‘Sendiri, Diana Sendiri’ dan ‘Memoria’ menceritakan isu-isu perempuan di daerah perkotaan Jakarta dan
di daerah pasca-konflik Timor Leste. Film ini diputar di Toronto International Film Festival dan memenangkan The Best Short Film di Jogja Asia Netpac Film Festival. Melalui film ‘The Seen and Unseen’ Kamila dipilih sebagai sutradara Indonesia pertama yang mengikuti program residensi Cinéfondation dari Cannes Film
Festival.

Di samping itu, Kamila mengorganisasi festival film di wilayah  pedalaman Indonesia yang disebut INEFFEST. Ia juga aktif dalam memberikan berbagai lokakarya dan menjadi juri dalam berbagai acara kompetisi film.

Kamila Andini born in Jakarta, 6 May 1986 and finished her study of Sociology and
Media Arts in Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Her concern of social culture,
gender equity and environmental issue lead her passion to make films with a
distinctive perspective of telling a story.

At the age of 24, she made her first feature film ‘The Mirror Never Lies’, which capture the story of Bajau tribe, the sea gypsies in Indonesian ocean. This film is co-produced with WWF and traveled in more than 40 festivals around the world, including Berlinale International Film Festival. More than that, the film also received some awards including Earth Grand Prix for best environmental film at Tokyo International Film Festival, FIPRESCI award, from International Federation Film Critics at Hong Kong International Film Festival, and Best Children Film at Asia Pacific Screen Awards. Her two short films ‘Following Diana’ and ‘Memoria’ potraits woman issues both in urban area of Jakarta and also in post conflict area of Timor Leste, which screen in Toronto International Film Festival and won the best short film at Jogja Asia Netpac Film Festival. Her second feature film ‘The Seen and Unseen’ supported by Hubertbals Fund, Asia Pacific Sreen Awards Fund and Doha Film Institute Grants. Along with this film, Kamila had chosen as the first Indonesian writer/director at Cinefondation Residency program from Cannes Film Festival.

Kamila is also actively giving workshops for Filmmaking, Directing and Scriptwriting sharing her ideas and approach in Filmmaking. She is also actively
becomes a judge for Film Competition in various festival and events.
