Immartyas (b. 1996, Bandung) describes herself as a ‘drawer.’ She cuts, scratches, and assembles materials, making tactility integral to her practice. Having studied printmaking, she understands how marks emerge through pressure and delves into these fundamental aspects of various mediums. Recently, she developed a patch/paste method using translucent materials. This method intersects with her ongoing investigation of drawing, tactility, and printmaking to bring into presence how layers act in space.
She won Bronze in the 2024 UOB Painting of the Year Award and completed a printmaking residency in 2019 at Chetak 12, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her works have been exhibited in Rubanah Pavillion, Thailand Biennale; Chiang Rai, National Art Gallery of Malaysia; HOM Art Trans, Kuala Lumpur; Vietnam Fine Art Museum.”
